What we believe will become one of the new signature buildings of the new NYC, 55 Hudson Yards finds it roots in SoHo and Early Modernism with a next level functionality. With access to the No. 7 Subway and opening directly onto the new Bella Azbug Park, the commercial building features custom indoor-outdoor spaces for tenants, this natural modern aesthetic moving into the lobby. Given the dramatic triple height of the lobby, KPF created a large scale custom finish to capture the grain. Because the lobby is illuminated by natural light, the panels also needed to be extremely flat, so a honeycomb backer was employed. The result is a textured, floating ceiling that issues warmth and makes a connection with its urban and natural surroundings.
