In the early summer, beautiful porcelain white seashells from the ocean drift to the shores of Sagg Main Beach in in Sagaponack, NY. This inspiration lead to the creation of 4 separate pearl colors layered on a terracotta white background. The top gloss layer was adjusted to create a sense of flow and depth, a technique we are calling matte gloss-matte. The final result is a sinuous bone and “shell” white with iridescent pearl highlights that read as ultra-matte, yet are surprisingly alive.
