What are “Weathering Steel” or Rust Finishes?
Weathering steel finishes can refer to natural steel which when exposed to the air patinas to a rust finish. These were made popular by US Steel’s CortenTM product. The oxidation is intended to protect the steel surface from corrosion, however in certain climates or with water exposure they can continue to corrode. Our version of “rust” or “weathering steel” panels are made from aluminum and painted using offset gravure process which adds dimension and the look of rust patina to the finish without the chance of corrosion. The range of finishes in this category gives great variety of color, pattern size and matte appearance.
These finishes can be used as weathering steel cladding, for millwork and any of our other product applications. To see examples of projects keep scrolling, or check out our systems to see what is the right fit for your project needs.
